Guest Bath tub/shower

The guest bathroom tile work is just about done. We were short a few pieces of bullnose for the edging, but everything else is tiled. Adam made a niche for shampoo, conditioner, etc from some interesting pieces of travertine. We really like the look! Now all we need are a tub/shower faucet set and the drain to be connected... oh... and a hot water heater. :)

Bedroom Lighting

We finally found lights that worked for us in the master bedroom which has a slanted ceiling. Ken installed them last week.

Below, imagine our bed between the wall lamps. I am looking forward to reading in bed.

Bathroom progress

We have made progress on the important things--- the septic system is now operational and we have a working toilet and salvaged sink in the powder room! Running water and a flush toilet!!! (We made a trip to the "dump" this weekend for trash drop and recycling and found a sink complete with faucets as a stop gap measure).

The guest bathroom floor is completed and the tub surround is well underway.

Below is the Master Bathroom floor-- Ken installed underfloor heating in the master bath. Can't wait to try it out! The vanity cabinet-- two sinks 107" wide-- will be along the back wall which doesn't have the tile right now.

Let there be light!

Ken installed lighting fixtures last week. This is one of the wall sconces in the living room area.

The hanging light will go over the dining room table.

Great progress made today... The septic system which has been installed for over a year finally went "live" today. Now we actually have a working toilet. We can start moving the toilets out of the garage and into the bathrooms. We would even have running water if the sinks were installed. Hmm... another day!

All the rooms are just about finished with the hardwood flooring. Bob and Isidro are working on hanging doors and the stairway. All the downstairs tiling is finished. We have lots of extra tile-- thinking of going into the coaster making business.

Cabinets almost all in place

I'm dreaming about cooking and having space to work and prepare in my new kitchen! The cabinets and appliances are almost all in place. I know who my first dinner guests will be. :)

The new double oven-- top one is convection with a probe. Bottom one is thermal. Both are self cleaning. :)

This is the left side of the kitchen. There will be an island in the middle (where the pipes -- for prep sink--are sticking up on the floor.) There will also be a central vacuum kick plate there so I can sweep and have the dust swept away. I am looking forward to that. I don't do well with dustpans.

This is the right side of the kitchen. A stainless steel apron sink will be under the double windows, dishwasher in place and the hutch at the end will hold dishes and glasses-- near both the dishwasher and eating areas. Ken will be very glad to have the dishwasher!

Kitchen cabinets settling in

The kitchen cabinets are finding their place and the kitchen is starting to look like a homey place to eat and cook!

Here is the refrigerator area--microwave and toaster oven will go in the cabinet to the right. Ken will build some shelves over the fridge...

This is the corner-- oven on the far left (out of range of this shot), cook top under the range hood, sink under the windows on the right. Trees outside-- forest view on this side of the house.

Cabinets have a new home!

The kitchen floor is done so... today we were able to move the cabinets which have been "living" in our garage/shed since the end of August into the new Manor. Today was a sloppy rainy day so this process ended up being quite a procedure as our island truck got thoroughly stuck in the mud in front of the new Manor. It took 4 guys a couple of hours to free the truck from the mud, but they got it done. All the cabinets are in the house ready to be hung. I ordered them so long ago, I didn't quite remember what they each were and I had not ever seen the finish on them. We are quite pleased with the look of what we can see so far.

This is the cabinet that will hold the cooktop.

These cabinets are waiting to be placed in their new "home." I may be able to break out some of my cooking supplies that have been packed away for over 2 years now. It will be like Christmas!

More of the tile was also laid in the downstairs hallway. This is the same tile as the foyer/entrance with a different pattern.

On a semi-fruitless trip to the tile store last weekend, we stopped in a lighting store that lost its lease. It was pretty wiped out, but we saw these globes that could work on our pendant lights over the island in the kitchen. They were marked 1.94, so we thought it was worth a gamble. When they were rung up, the total for both of them was 1.06 including tax! They actually are a good fit with the dining area chandelier we just ordered... and the price was more than right!
