Stairway progress

Bob H. worked on the stairway last week. The steps are complete and now he is working on the railings. That is an important safety feature that needs to be completed for our occupancy permit.

Master Bath tile completed

Master Bath -- shower completed.
This is hard to show as it is an enclosed space, but hopefully you will get the idea.

Adam made a niche and soap dish using travertine tile.

Ken had to do a bit of engineering to get the accent piece to work. It came in a 12" square, but because the rows were not even, you couldn't cut it into 4" strips as we first thought. He had to figure out the pattern and cut the individual strips apart and figure out the best placement. It turned out great though! Can't wait to hop in. We are not having a shower door and the bathroom floor is heated.

The vanity cabinets arrived and they will be going in soon. We decided to use the same travertine tile as used in the niche for the vanity counter top.

Fireplace stone

We picked out the stone for our fireplace today. We went to a great stoneyard-- Cascade Stone Supply in Burlington, WA. Steve there was very helpful and insisted that we take home samples to see how they looked with the rest of our house.
We were very pleased with his service and prices.

I like the varied colors and shapes of this variety. I think it gives us a lot of options for decorating.

It is a natural stone veneer-- with the stones cut flat on the side mounted to the fireplace structure. We still need to build that, but at least we have made the decision on the type of stone.
